(Another) New OpenBox S10 Remote, hardware/firmware changes

Some changes with the full production run of the latest and greatest OpenBox S10′s.

First, they changed the remote again! This is the 5th remote for the S9/S10 series. It works good and has the VFORMAT button about as far away as it can get, at the bottom. It’s otherwise about the same quality as the “v4″ remotes we got with our first S10 shipments. Way better than the v3 just because that VFORMAT is out of the way. All of our S10′s shipping 5/28/2011 or later have this latest remote.

It also looks like they improved the hardware a bit. The clock now displays when the unit is off, but it still doesn’t appear to work right. Something changed in the hardware as our previous S10 firmware does not work right. The latest S10′s would not turn off with it. Don’t worry, I redid the firmware for all the new production S10′s, they are fine.

Hopefully this is a step toward fixing the timer issue.

You can load the new S10 firmware on the original S10′s, but not the old firmware on new S10. Once I have time to post the new firmware I’ll be sure it is noted and clear on the support page.
